I recently purchased two gallery wrap canvas prints from CanvasWorld.com, and I am so impressed by the quality of the print itself and the customer service I received!  The ordering process was easy ~ I just uploaded my own high res JPEG file, and they did the rest!

CanvasWorld.com has generously offered to sponsor a 12″ x 12″ canvas giveaway (a $92 value)!  An exclusive offer just for my blog readers & customers!! So, what favorite photo or layout would you love to have hanging on your wall?!  These gallery canvases would make fabulous gifts, too (did someone say, “Christmas!”?).

Hi there it’s Amy again…with some more “Photo Fun!”

I hope you’ve all been enjoying your summer…I know I have :) .   To commemorate the end of summer, I’ve got a fun technique to share with you today, as well as, a template that you can use to make your own pop art poster for the walls of your home, office or even your kids’ lockers!

To make my “The Things I Love About Summer” wall poster I used elements from Danielle’s Citrus Summer Kit to add a few summer touches and a fun photo technique to give my photos a sketched, pop art effect.

Follow the steps below to get this same look:

1. First open your photo in your version of Photoshop.

2. Next got to Filter—>Artistic—>Poster Edges and enter the quantities specified below:

Thickness: 2

Intensity: 1

Posterization: 2

3. Now go to Filter—>Artistic—>Cutout and enter the quantities specified below:

Levels: 3

Simplicity: 2

Fidelity: 1

4. Now convert the photo to black and white.

5. Use your magic wand to select the lightest color of grey in your background and select it–you may have to select it in more than one go so make sure you’ve selected to “Add to Selection” option in the Magic Wands menu bar.

6. Double click on your background layer to unlock it and then clear the selection by pressing delete–this is going to allow more of the color you choose to blend the photo with to show through.

7. Now drag your photo on top of the colored background layer of your choice and change the blending mode of your photo’s layer to multiply.

Note: If your using more than one photo with this same technique, you may want to go through afterwards and adjust the levels of all your photos so that the contrast in all of your photos is similar to one another.

This summer, The Hubs and I started discussing adopting a lab puppy.  After careful consideration, returning home from our beach vacation to a very lonely 8-yr old black lab, and inspiration from a perfectly symbolic & literal SIGN, we made the decision to go for it!  :) Our chocolate lab “Topher” has been a member of our family for the past 3 weeks.  He’s easily made his way into our hearts – despite the lack of sleep!

Thanks to Lauren Reid’s 100 Things kit (available at My Scrapbook Art) & K Studio’s Dirty Denim Alpha Set for inspiring this page:

Are you & your kids ready for school this fall?  If you’ve started back already, I’m sure you have a few “first day” photos – and probably at least one standing at the bus stop!  Enjoy this free Otto number set to help you scrap those snapshots.  Just click the preview to download.

Amy Kingsford’s Photo Fun Tips are back next week & I can’t wait for you to see what she’s come up with!!  Stay tuned…

Locally, we have several school districts that start back next week… kids… in school… the first week of August!?  I cannot believe it.  It seems like the summer just started.  Since the Hubs and I don’t have kids yet, the only change that directly affects us this time of year is an increase in traffic during my morning commute!  However, this year is special… my little sister is beginning her teaching career!  It’s such an exciting time as she decorates her new classroom and prepares for her students to arrive on the first day of school.

In celebration, I’m resurrecting my New Lunchbox Page Kit with an incredible deal.  When you purchase $5 or more of my designs at Oscraps, add the New Lunchbox Page Kit to your cart and get it free!  Hurry, it’s a limited time offer & the kids are on their way!! :)

Shortly after completing my custom illustrations for Tamara of Eh! Good Looking Photography, my new friend Carol requested a totally unique set of whimsical illustrations.  Carol wanted three note card designs as a gift for her son’s upcoming birthday.  Each note card needed a different design having special meaning to her son: a lobster, a bowl of blueberries, and chocolate birthday cake.

Here’s what I came up with… These were so fun to create & I love this sponge-painted effect!

If you love this layered cake as much as I do, I’ve turned it into a downloadable sticker for your digital creations!  CLICK HERE to grab your free birthday cake! :)   ENJOY!

Time for the reveal of my newest kit, Citrus Summer!  It’s now available at Oscraps, and it’ll be 20% off through this weekend!
